Vintage/ Antique 18ct Platinum Diamond And ‘Paste’ Ring

Sale price$1,597.00 SGD

Laybys welcome! Contact Us today to secure your dream piece.
When one mentions the word ‘Paste’ in reference to jewellery sometimes it is assumed that ‘Oh well, that means it’s costume or dress jewellery’..
Not so!

Paste or more specifically ‘Glass’ gems have spanned the centuries and are collectible and beautiful in their own right. (See below for further info).
The ring we have for offer today in fact has an (old 2014 ) independent gemological valuation for $2985.00.  And yes its centre stone which looks very much like an Aquamarine is in fact Paste/Glass.

Faceted in the same careful manner as any ‘real’ gemstone and surrounded by sixteen genuine earth mined diamonds with G colour and ranging Clarity of SI to P.
Crafted from 18ct yellow gold and Platinum, hand made, not cast, the high round reverse tapered band rises through charniere supported upswept shoulders to support a gallery style square cluster setting.

The almost half a carat of diamonds are beautiful, bright and white and compliment the pale to medium blue of the centre stone perfectly.

Stunningly pretty in style and to the untrained eye this looks as good if not better than an Aquamarine and diamond ring.. without the massive price tag! And you still get the diamonds!

History of Paste Jewellery

Paste jewellery is a special type of flint glass that emulates a number of gemstones. The origins of Paste jewellery date back to the mid-18th century, to a jeweller named Georges Frederic Stras, who worked as a jeweller to the king when he moved from Strasbourg to Paris in 1724. His name is still attached to the craft as some people refer to fine-quality antique paste jewellery as ‘Stras’ (or "Strass") instead.

Much of the beauty and appeal of antique Paste jewellery is that it was such a difficult and labour-intensive thing to produce. The special Paste glass was cut and polished by hand so that is shone and glittered.
