Antique Victorian 9ct Rose Gold Diamond And Ruby And Pearl ‘Crowned Heart’ Brooch Circa 1890-1900
This brooch is a true embodiment of love and loyalty, as it is designed in the shape of a 'crowned heart’.
Crafted from 9ct rose gold in the Victorian era, and designed as a semi-crescent celestial bar brooch which ‘pierces’ the central heart shaped motif set with eight old Mine cut diamonds and eight natural antique cut Rubies. Atop the heart is a three Pearl set crown.
The creation of the heart shape to signify love was first seen around the end of the Middle Ages. Gaining popularity in the 15th and 16th centuries and became widely used in jewellery design throughout subsequent centuries.
As enduring a sentiment today as in past centuries this delightful brooch is a future heirloom piece for the serious collector.

CONDITION
Very very good antique condition. All gemstones original, securely set, no chips or nicks. Diamonds are bright, white and lively, Rubies lovely, a deep pinky/red and a beautiful antique cut. No dents of dings to crescent brooch, original safety chain and pin which is stamped ‘9’ for 9ct. Original C clasp and pin, pin is also 9ct gold.
