Antique Victorian Carbuncle/Cabochon And Bohemian Rose-Cut Garnet Bracelet - Circa 1880-90

There are Bohemian garnet bracelets, most are lovely.. but then there is this example… this superb and rare to find Victorian garnet bracelet puts all other on notice!
Set with not only ‘Bohemian’ rose-cut garnets (pyrope garnets) but large and incredibly beautiful cabochon/carbuncle garnets which almost defy description.
Featuring a total of eleven (11) cabochon garnets, the largest set to the push-in box clasp weighs approximately 7.2 carats - 1.4cm x 1.1cm - and is halo set in two tiered style with round- rose-cut Bohemian garnets. A further ten (10) panels are set with slightly smaller garnet cabochons weighing approximately 6.0cts each- 13mm x 10mm - and are set with a single halo of round rose-cut Bohemian garnets.
In remarkable condition for its age with no replacements, re-glues of damage to these luscious garnets, this substantial and heavy Victorian bracelet weighs a heavy 26 grams.
A substantial piece of jewellery, presenting rarely to the market, this stunning antique bracelet is a stand out from the rest.. a must for the serious Victorian jewellery collector.
Please note foil backed/closed backed jewellery must never be immersed in water or cleaned in an ultrasound.
What Does ‘Garnet’ mean?
Its name is derived from the Latin word “granatus” (grain, seed), possibly a reference to the vivid red seeds of the pomegranate, which are a similar in shape, size and colour to some garnet crystals.

Very good to excellent antique condition. The large carbuncle/cabochon Garnets are stunning, no chips or damage, well set and secure. All rose-cut Garnets are original, no replacements or re-glues, no chips or damage. No repairs to bracelet. Box clasp works very securely and is safe and secure on wrist. A stunning example of true Victorian Bohemian Garnet jewellery.
