A splendid example of the beauty, innovative use of techniques and naturalistic artistic expression of the Art Nouveau era.

Designed as a symbolic four leaf Clover opening locket with a simple and easy to use ’slide to open’ mechanism and crafted from 15ct rose gold which has been superbly enamelled in pale yellow and green enamels to the front opening compartment, with the side profile of an elegant free spirited woman with a fine profile, beautiful coiffed curls adorned with a rose-cut diamond and Ruby set Bandeau, and a tiny Star in the sky which she appears to be gazing upon.

Opening to reveal a round locket compartment suitable to hold a photo of a loved one, a replacement fine piece of card and plastic has been added.

To the verso of the rear compartment we find a plain rose gold unadorned backing.

If the locket itself isn’t enough … at some stage in this lockets history a late Georgian to early Victorian 9ct gold engraved Split-ring has been added as the top bale…. measuring a very pleasing 1.5cm in diameter this wonderful piece of very early jewellery can accommodate a large gauge chain, one to two dog clips or a stunning piece of ribbon if desired.

"Four leaf clovers symbolise faith, hope, love and luck, and are believed to possess mystical powers.  An ancient Irish good luck symbol the Celts believed the four leaf clover protected them from mischief and aided in the spotting of mystical fairies!"

A fine piece of Art Nouveau craftsmanship with the addition of a collectible Georgian split-ring, this strikingly b beautiful piece will suit many collectors.

CONDITION
Very very good antique condition.  Some losses to pale green vitreous enamel work to left hand side edging, this is not terribly obvious however.  Slides to open, closes securely.  Minor impressions to the outside rear compartment.  Some fading to blooming to interior compartments where locket slides to open and close. All tiny diamonds and ruby original.  Split-ring is lovely, no issues.
