Fabulous and heavy 8.5 gram earrings crafted in yellow gold throughout dating to the Victorian era and styled in the Etruscan manner.
The large central round drops (tested as 18ct gold) feature the most stunningly detailed open flowers inset to a round decorated beaded frame and then to the border which has fine cannetille beads around the circumference. Solid gold backs (tested as 14ct gold) enclose the verso of these discs.
Suspending these glorious floral discs are ‘balls’ also decorated in tiny cannetille beads and these have been XRF tested as 18ct gold and both feature shepherd hook ear wires (which test as 15ct gold).
Not unusual in times gone by different carats of gold have been used for various parts of these earrings. Only by XRF testing do we know the specifics details of these superb earrings!
Strikingly beautiful in the ear these rare and hard to find earrings will not disappoint.
