Vintage Australian Sterling Silver ‘Bluebird’ Enamel Earrings Circa 1950-1970’s
Dating to the 1950’s to 70’s these all original charming earrings feature the ‘Bluebird of happiness’ in guilloche blue enamel and crafted from Sterling Silver. Designed for pierced ears with post and butterfly backs, with small silver balls suspending, in articulated form, the Bluebirds.
The origins of these symbolic Bluebirds dates back to around the late Victorian era - see link below for information - and were given as love tokens to sweet hearts and sometimes worn as ’something blue’ on a wedding day.
Around the 1950’s children were sometimes given their first precious piece of jewellery featuring a bluebird ( I was one!, and sadly promptly lost it…).
All original, including the matching butterfly backs, with no losses or wear to enamel, wouldn’t these earrings be a precious gift to oneself of a loved one!
