Vintage Charm!

A wonderfully striking vintage 9ct yellow gold Garnet daisy cluster ring, fully hallmarked for Birmingham, 1973, and showcasing a beautifully rich arrangement of nine round faceted Garnets in a classic floral design, we all know Daisy rings are so in style at the moment, this beauty would make a wonderful Christmas gift for the January birthday ladies!

Please note, boxes are for display only unless otherwise stated.

Taking centre stage is a substantial round faceted Garnet measuring approximately 7.80mm, estimated at approximately 2.20ct. It displays a gorgeous deep wine-red to rich claret colour, with exceptional saturation and flashes of brighter cherry, crimson and pomegranate red emerging as the stone catches the light.

Surrounding the centre Garnet are eight round faceted Garnets measuring approximately 4.00mm each, estimated at approximately 0.28ct each, creating a beautifully balanced daisy-style cluster with an estimated total Garnet weight of approximately 4.40ct.

Each Garnet is individually secured within strong, yellow gold claw settings, allowing the stones to remain wonderfully prominent while showcasing their rich colour and faceting. The cluster is raised within a high, piereced open under- gallery, an especially lovely feature of the design which allows light to enter beneath and around the Garnets. This brings wonderful life to their naturally deep body colour, illuminating those beautiful flashes of ruby-red, burgundy and glowing crimson rather than allowing the stones to appear overly dark.

At the centre of the underside is a charming daisy-style pierced cut-out, echoing the floral arrangement of the Garnets above and adding a particularly pretty decorative detail that would ordinarily only be seen when the ring is removed from the finger.   The shoulders rise neatly into the gallery with an attractive split and open-work construction, helping to brace the cluster while maintaining the elegant, light appearance of the ring, giving the setting an elegant transition from the plain yellow gold band into its wonderfully bold floral centre.

With its impressive finger presence, richly saturated Garnets and warm contrast against the 9ct yellow gold, this is a gorgeous example of 1970s British jewellery — wonderfully feminine, beautifully proportioned and particularly striking on the hand.

Condition

Very very good condition. The garnets are free from chips, with only inconsequential marks noting for accuracy only. The claws are all very strong and secure, covering the garnets well. The pierced, open work under-gallery remains in solid and well executed condition, while the shank and shoulders are solid in manufacture lending the ring to feel particularly comfortable and secure on the finger.  A gorgeous, eye-catching ring!
