Vintage 14ct Yellow Gold And Lapis Lazuli Ring
Deriving its name from the early 15c., from Middle Latin lapis lazuli, literally "stone of azure," from Latin lapis "a stone”.
Given its beautiful ultramarine blue/violet hue it is no wonder this stone, or technically a rock, has been popular thro9ugh the centuries.
(Lapis Lazuli is technically a rock not a mineral like most. It is an aggregate of several minerals such as lazurite, pyrite, calcite, feldspar, mica, diopside and others)
This lovely example crafted from 14ct yellow gold and is bezel set with a 1.6cm x 1.1cm slightly egg shaped Lapis Lazuli with telltale flecks of pyrite.
Low set on the finger, substantially made with a thick tapering half round shank allowing this one to be worn everyday with care.
N.B. Lapis Lazuli is the 9th wedding anniversary gemstone.
