When new meets old, this stunning marriage of eras - both Georgian and modern - combine to provide quite a strikingly beautiful necklace.

Front and centre we find a Georgian circa 1820’s clasp, crafted from low carat or pinchbeck gold typical of this era, which is centrally set with a large and stunning cabochon Garnet weighing approximately 4ct (1.17cm x 8.7cm), surrounded by ten round faceted Garnets in cut down settings.

This Georgian piece has been skilfully set by an incredible jeweller to a large, heavy and substantial 9ct yellow gold box clasp - the work is second to none - and the whole ‘clasp’ measures a visually striking 2.1cm x 1.8cm.

The Pearls are as equally beautiful as the clasp, a series of co-joined or ’twin’ freshwater baroque Pearls, measuring (with the clasp) a neck circumference of a pleasing 44cm in length.
Creamy white with rose overtones, the Pearls compliment the piny-red of the Garnets to perfection!

Wear this incredible strand of Pearls with the Garnet clasp to the front, side of even the rear of the neck when wearing an ‘updo’, this versatile and conversation starting necklace is a visual delight!

CONDITION
Very good to excellent ‘new/old’ condition.  The Georgian garnet component is in low carat or pinchbeck, the large cabochon Garnet is lovely, no chips or abrasions.  The surrounding Garnets - one early replacement - are all foil backed and in very good condition with only one tiny nibble to one seen under loupe magnification.  All well set and secure.  The ‘new’ 9ct gold box clasp is of heavy solid construction, very well made and of excellent workmanship, opens and closes perfectly.  The Pearls are lovely, very well matched and strung in excellent fashion.  No issues to note.
