Beginning its popularity in the early 18th century and remaining popular in to the Edwardian era, sentimental jewellery with the loving sentiments ‘REGARD’ and ‘DEAREST’ were given to loved ones as powerful romantic gestures, and are highly coveted today given their scarcity.

This extraordinary example may have been a commission piece, we have not seen one quite like it, and dates to the late Victorian era circa 1890’s.

Stunningly crafted from 15ct yellow gold this very heavy and solid - 30 grams - mesh style bracelet has been ingeniously designed as a sliding adjustable ‘buckle’ bracelet which will fit any wrist size.

To the front we find another Victorian sentimental motif - the buckle - representing  eternity, fidelity/loyalty, strength and protection, and to the reverse exquisite rose gold applied lettering ‘REGARD’.

The buckle, REGARD lettering and fluted seed Pearl strap end are in 9ct rose gold, the contrast between the high 15ct carat yellow gold and the rose is beautiful, and the tiny creamy white Pearl accents further enhance the meticulous design of this possible unique bracelet.

The skill involved in the execution of this bracelet is staggering, the mesh work is outstanding, tightly woven, thick and with no signs of wear and slinky soft and sinuous to to the touch, a true testament to the skill of Victorian jewellers.

One for the serious collector of sentimental Victorian jewellery, or any lover of outstanding quality jewellery.

Very good to excellent antique condition.  All Pearls original, well matched and secure, no re-glues.  No damage, no repairs.  A heavy 30 gram example, beautifully crafted.  Mesh bracelet is a rich high carat yellow gold hue - the buckle, ‘REGARD’ lettering and fluted terminal are a softer rose gold hue by design and originally crafted as such.  A rare and unique example with no issues to note.
