Can we just pause for a second and take this in? This is one of those rare pieces that stops you in your tracks!
This superb Victorian pendant, dating back to the 1890s (that’s well over 130 years of history), is crafted in rich 15ct yellow gold and features a commanding 9.4-carat ‘Siberian’ Amethyst as its centrepiece. The Amethyst is a modified cushion cut, beautifully faceted to catch every flicker of light, and displays that coveted deep, saturated purple with the most enchanting rose-pink flashes dancing across it. (Just so you know, “Siberian” in the gem world isn’t necessarily about where it came from — it’s the trade term for this exact colour quality: that rich reddish-violet body with those gorgeous rose flashes that make the stone feel alive.)
What makes this pendant truly special is how perfectly everything has been preserved. Twenty-two natural half-seed Pearls encircle the Amethyst like a delicate halo — each one creamy, lustrous, and flawlessly matched with zero nacre loss or re-settings. They’re all original, just as they left the jeweller’s bench in the late 19th century.
The Amethyst itself is held safely and securely in its original multi-claw setting, and even the top bale is adorned with more of those tiny, perfect Pearls.
The whole piece is in truly immaculate condition — no abrasions, no wear on the facets, no signs of its age beyond that soft, warm patina that only time can give fine antique gold.
It’s a substantial, commanding pendant that feels incredibly wearable and elegant, whether you’re pairing it with a simple chain or dressing it up for a special evening.
