A superb, and large, example of the every popular ‘Starburst’ brooch dating to the late Victorian ear circa 1890-1900.

Almost definitely Australian given the style, workmanship and provenance, this fine piece is crafted in 15ct rosy hued gold and is a large example at 3.3cm, and a very hefty 11 grams in weight.

Designed in typical tiered fashion with six beautiful ‘rays’ set with natural half Pearls in graduating sizes, with each ray interspersed with a floral sprig motif set with an old Mine-cut diamond.

Centrally set with a stunning 5.3mm Pearl which is surrounded by a six wonderful old Mine-cut diamonds each in a tulip styled setting.

To the verso we find the original pin and C clasp, and the original safety pin - which could facilitate a chain allowing this one to be worn as a pendant quite easily.

An extraordinarily fine example, large, heavy, pristine in condition, and set with approximately 0.40ct of lovely old Mine-cut diamonds, this wonderful piece of Victoriana is an asset to any serious collectors jewellery collection.
