“For centuries, flowers have carried profound symbolic meanings, serving as a subtle means of communication. During the Victorian era, rigid social conventions limited direct expression, prompting people to use flowers to convey flirtations and secret messages.

In 1819, Le Langage des Fleurs, the first dictionary to decode floral symbolism, was published in Paris. This code gained immense popularity among the middle and upper classes of Victorian society, who were constrained by strict etiquette, enabling them to express unspoken sentiments through the artful language of flowers".

A stunning statement piece of jewellery fully hallmarked for manufacture in the UK, assayed in Birmingham and date later stamped for 1882.

Crafted from Sterling silver and designed as a wide - 3.2cm - cuff style bangle popular during this era.

Designed as an oval opening hinged bangle with superb ornate engraving showcasing floral garlands and ferns, and raised applied panelling to the front panel, and smooth and unadorned to the rear panel, securing with a large hidden box type clasp.

Designed to sit low on the wrist, as a cuff, this wide and impressive bangle is in very good condition for its 143 years of age, and ready to be worn and adored once again.
