Lovely Antique Edwardian 15ct Yellow Gold Sardonyx Signet Ring Circa 1910-15
Timeless Edwardian Charm
A beautifully preserved antique 15ct yellow gold Sardonyx signet ring, almost certainly of early Australian manufacture, displaying the wonderfully distinctive proportions and understated elegance associated with early Australian jewellery
Please note, boxes are for display only unless otherwise stated.
The oval Sardonyx face, exhibiting a beautiful soft, slate-blue to smoky cornflower blue tone, measures approximately 12.2mm x 9.05mm, giving the ring a lovely presence across the finger while remaining beautifully refined and wearable. The smooth oval face is framed by a fine polished gold surround, leading into particularly attractive split, tapered shoulders with subtle geometric detailing before meeting the gently rounded band.
What is especially lovely about this example is the remarkable condition of the original detailing. The shoulders remain wonderfully crisp and well defined, with the fine lines and architectural shaping still clearly visible rather than having been softened through generations of wear. For an antique ring of this age, it presents in excellent condition, retaining a wonderfully honest character while showing just how carefully it has been treasured.
The interior is stamped “15CT”, in the style commonly seen with early Australian jewellery of the period. Although no maker’s mark is present to attribute the piece to a particular maker, the construction, styling and manner of marking are all strongly characteristic of Australian manufacture.
A particularly handsome, perfect for any gender, antique signet ring with beautiful finger presence, excellent surviving detail and that wonderful warmth unique to old 15 carat yellow gold jewellery of the period.
