A truly gorgeous Vintage 9ct Yellow Gold Garnet Ring dating to 1978, beautifully crafted with the most wonderful decorative detailing and a richly coloured natural Garnet taking centre stage!
The ring features a substantial oval cabochon-cut natural Almandine Garnet, estimated at approximately 4.5 carats, measuring 13.50mm × 7.69mm × 4.20mm. Beautifully polished with a lovely high-domed profile, the Garnet displays a wonderfully deep, almost black-cherry colour, revealing gorgeous rich crimson, burgundy and wine-red tones when viewed in natural daylight. The depth and richness of colour are particularly attractive, giving this lovely gemstone a luxurious and captivating presence.
Surrounding the Garnet is an exquisitely decorative scalloped Yellow Gold setting, featuring a delightful arrangement of raised, petal-like details, beautifully complemented by fine textured edging. The design has an almost floral appearance, with the warm Yellow Gold providing a wonderful contrast against the dark, glossy Garnet.
Of particular note are the beautifully crafted bifurcated or split shoulders, which gracefully sweep upwards to meet the decorative setting before joining the slender, polished Yellow Gold shank. This lovely open design adds an extra touch of elegance while allowing the substantial Garnet and ornate goldwork to take centre stage.
The Garnet is also open-backed, allowing light to enter from beneath the gemstone and reveal those gorgeous deep red tones that can remain hidden in softer lighting. A particularly lovely feature of this beautiful ring!
Fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1978, this piece is a wonderful example of vintage jewellery, combining traditional craftsmanship with a beautifully distinctive design.
A gorgeous vintage treasure, perfect for those who appreciate the warmth of Yellow Gold, richly coloured natural gemstones and jewellery with a little individuality and character!
