Estate 18ct Yellow Gold And Platinum Ruby Ring
Crafted from 18ct yellow gold to the shank, with the Ruby ten claw set in a coronet setting crafted from Platinum.
‘Man-made rubies were first invented by Auguste Verneuil, a French chemist who invented the first commercially viable process for the manufacture of synthetic gemstones. In 1902 he discovered the "flame fusion" process, called the Verneuil process, which is an inexpensive method of making artificial corundum, or rubies and sapphires’.
A modified round cushion-cut displaying the prized ‘pigeons blood’ hue we all desire, this elegant ring is beautifully crafted and and makes an affordable alternative to the prohibitive cost of earth mined Rubies!
