Icy blue is the term that comes to mind whilst gazing upon this large blue oval moonstone of such large proportions, measuring 2cm x 1cm.  With a large floating 'window' that undulates when the ring is moved, it is quite mesmerising.

Set in a substantial but subtle Art Deco stepped bezel mount as to not over power the star of the show which is of course the moonstone.  Modelled in 8ct yellow gold and dates to the Art Deco era, made probably in Germany or perhaps Denmark.  In lovely condition, no thinning to band.  Moonstone has very faint superficial rubs, does not detract from the wonder of this ring.

This ring impresses where ever she goes and never fails to draw compliments.

Origins of 8ct Gold
If you are not familiar with 8ct gold let us explain the origins and purity of these early wonderful pieces.  The word 'caratage' defines the purity of gold when mixed with other alloys/metals, mainly copper and silver.  24ct is pure and mixed with no other metals.  18ct (750)gold is 75% pure, 9ct (375) is 37.5%. 8ct (333) is 33.3% pure and so forth.  Every country has a minimum legal accepted standard for gold.  In the US it is 10ct, in the UK and Australia it is 9ct.  In Germany, Denmark and Greece it is or was 8ct or 333.
