Antique Victorian ‘Flemish’ 14ct And Silver Rose-Cut / ‘Senaille’ Diamond Cross - Circa 1860-80

A stunning antique 19th Century Belgian ‘Flemish’ Diamond Cross dating to the late 19th century.
Known as a Flemish Cross, these pieces were made around the Belgium, Austrian and Holland areas, and given to and worn by wearily women typically on a long silver chain. A sign of not only faith but fashion during the 18th and 19th centuries, and as wearable, and beautiful today as it was over a century ago.
Crafted in tradition design from silver set ‘Senaille’ diamonds, with a gold backing (not a gold wash, but a solid layer of gold fused to the silver), this nicely proportioned example is not too large and overwhelming at a wonderful 5.4cm x 4cm, and has its original top bale witch will accommodate many chains, or will hand from a bolt ting or dog-clip also.
The diamonds are all original, wonderful antique Senaille-cuts which have a twinkle and charm unlike modern cuts.
With no damage, repairs or additions, this strikingly beautiful Cross is a must for the collector of special antique jewellery.

Very good to excellent antique condition. All diamonds are original, well set and secure, under x 10 x 20 loupe magnification only minuscule marks to one or two, presents beautifully. No damage, repairs or additions. A superb piece.
