Get the look without the hefty price tag with this heavy, fancy, Rolled Gold long guard chain.
Worn originally by women throughout the early 19th to early 20th century typically to suspend a muff (hand warmer/gloves) but these days these wonderful and versatile chains can be styled in so many ways and with any of your favourite pendants safely clipped by the original dog-clip.
This example is constructed of ‘Rolled Gold’ with warm rosy gold hue, with faceted fancy belcher links features a versatile dog-clip fastener stamped with makers mark ’SP’ Freidrich Seidel Pforzheim.
Founded in 1869 by Freidrich Seidel in a small town in southwest Germany, Pforzheim , commonly referred to as Goldstadt or the ’Golden City’.
Renowned world wide for it's watchmaking, and jewellery, the company moved to Providence, Rhode Island in 1904, later becoming the Speidel Company inventors of the metal expansion band - Twist - O - Flex.
One of the most respected makers and originators of rolled gold jewellery form the late 1800s, the quality of their pieces is quite exceptional.
Measuring a lovely 140cm in length which can be looped around the neck twice and the highly useful dog-clip can attach all your favourite pendants, lockets etc.
