Antique Victorian ,Diamond Blue Enamel, Pearl Brooch Circa 1870-1890
An exquisite little brooch dating to the Victorian era circa 1870-90’s, beautifully made and set with an array of antique diamonds which shimmer and shine as beautifully today as the did over a century ago.
Crafted in two sections, the front panel is 15ct gold (tested) and holds the 54 small rose-cut and macle-cut diamonds, vibrant royal blue guilloché enamel and two creamy white natural half Pearls, and this section is backed in a pinchbeck or gold filled material (tested), quite typical of early pieces as this.
A delightful piece of early jewellery, pop this one on any lapel or shirt front and wait for the compliments!

Macle is a gemological term referring to triangular-shaped twinned crystals of diamond rough. Macles are usually quite flat but are often thick enough to fashion into brilliant-cut diamonds. Macle is taken from the old French for twin.

CONDITION
Very very good antique condition. All Diamonds original, right and sparkly. Pearls original, creamy white and lovely, no nacre loss. Enamel is very good to excellent condition,, all present and vibrant. Pin hinge section and C clasp have been reinforced and/or replaced some time in its history, pin itself appears to be original, this work has been done early and some traces of silver solder can be seen, however its a very solid and secure reinforcement, no damage to front section of this gorgeous brooch.
