An absolutely superb antique Victorian ‘Navette’ or ‘Marquise’ ring veritably dripping in an array of old rose-cut Diamonds - twenty seven to be exact and four tiny accent diamonds - ranging in size from the central high domed rose-cut which measures a lovely large 6.1mm x 5.06mm. 

It's impossible to give an accurate carat weight for rose-cut diamonds which are set in a closed foiled back settings, but rule of thumb is to measure the ‘spread’ of the diamonds, and given rose-cuts are flat backed, subtract approximately 30%.  
From the surface measurements alone, we can say that the ring gives the ‘appearance’ of a total carat weight of approximately 3.0ct .. therefore the estimated true carat weight would be in the vicinity of 2.10ct.

Surrounding this principal diamond are 26 further diamonds, all in foil-backed settings, ranging in size from approximately 4mm x 3.55mm down to 2.3mm x 1.6mm.  
These diamonds are not like modern brilliant cut diamonds.. there were never intended to be.. they are irregular, have natural flaws and were intended to be seen and worn in candle light or low gaslighting!

This fabulous ring measures a staggering 3.5cm x 1.0cm - tapering of course to the points - and sits low and lovely on the finger.

CONDITION
Very very good antique condition.  Diamonds are hand cut antique rose-cuts, all are individual shapes, there are carbon flaws and irregularities under magnification.  Foil backing under x 10 loupe magnification shows very minor imperfections, no major issues though.  No thinning to shank.  No damage to lovely under gallery, no repairs to ring.  Simply stunning.
