A superb pair of highly coveted Victorian earrings and accompanying Brooch, dating to the late Victorian era circa 1880-1900.

The earrings are designed for pierced ears with post fittings and butterfly backs, these splendid earrings would almost certainly have begun their life as perhaps buttons but have been expertly converted early in their history, with secure cup settings and post fittings and later substantial matching butterfly backs.

Crafted in large 1.3cm round domed or ‘bombe’ style and set with four tiers of natural Persian Turquoise cabochons of graduating sizes to the stunning central old Mine-cut diamond to the centre which creates a sparkling contrast to the duck-egg blue Turquoise.

Substantial in weight these impressive earrings weigh a combined 6.2 grams, and sit beautifully on the ear.

The brooch is divine.  It is also set to the centre with an antique cushion-cut diamond set in a silver cut down setting, and surrounding by too many Persian Turquoise to count, all of which are in excellent condition, all original and no messy re-glues.

To the verso we find the original pin, clasp and hinge.  Also of note there is an inscription ‘ August 3rd 1921’ in fine old script.  This inscription would have been added slightly  later and inscribed upon ‘gifting’ to  original owner of this piece.  The brooch would date to 1890-1900.

A fine demi-parure, rarely presenting to the market in such lovely condition.

CONDITION
Very good antique condition.  All Turquoise, and diamonds, are original, no re-glues.  Some Turquoise to the outer perimeter of the earrings show minor cleavages/cracks and minor chips, noting for accuracy only. No chips to diamonds, well set and secure. Posts are firm and strong. Butterfly backs are very good quality, substantial and firm on posts.  A stunning pair of early earrings.

Brooch is stunning, no chips, abrasions or re-glues to any Turquoise.  Diamond has no chips or abrasions, bright, white and lovely.  Pin and rollover clasp with tube hinge and rollover claps dating this one nicely to the late Victorian era to early 20th century, work perfectly and securely.  A possible reinforcement to base of roll over clasp, early work and very stable. A possible addition of a small loop to which a safety chain and pin would have been once attached.
