Stunning antique 9ct gold Victorian Horn of Plenty or ‘Cornucopia’ chatelaine pendant drop.
This lovely example is crafted in two tone gold, 9ct rose gold for the main, and yellow gold accents to the Horn, slider and top terminal.
In original condition this quite special piece features double foxtail chains to which the slider moves freely up and down with ease.
Supporting the Horn, the two foxtail strands are positioned evenly across the Horn allowing the Horn to lay horizontal against the décolletage if worn on a chain!
A striking 11cm in length this wonderful piece of Victoriana can be worn on a chain by simply slipping it through the full functional dog clip or clip her to you favourite antique watch chain.. so many options!
History of the Cornucopia
The Cornucopia was carried by the Roman goddess Fortuna (Greek: Tyche), the personification of luck, suggesting this charm was likely intended to top up the good luck of its owner, as well as bringing the usual abundance and nourishment.
Cornucopia comes from Latin cornu copiae, which translates literally as "Horn of Plenty." A traditional staple of feasts, the cornucopia is believed to represent the horn of a goat from Greek mythology. According to legend, it was from this horn that the god Zeus was fed as an infant.

Excellent antique condition. No dents, dings or issues to any component including Horn. Foxtail chains are excellent. Slider slides freely. Dog clip is springy and secure. No repairs, no issues. A fine piece of Victoriana.
