Antique Victorian 15ct Yellow Gold And Amethyst Padlock Clasp Circa 1890-1900
Crafted from 15ct yellow gold and centred with a large 12mm x 8mm pear-cut faceted Amethyst in a bezel setting with beautiful mill grained edging. Surrounding the Amethyst is raised repoussé scroll work framing the Amethyst perfectly.
To the verso we find a round glass widow we believe ay have once held a woven’ hair’ matting, however this has been removed over the decades, and now the glass window simply allows the light to enter and highlight the already stunning Amethyst from behind.
A strong padlock arm opens and closes very securely allowing this antique padlock to secure your favourite antique bracelet or simply pop her on a chain and wear as a pendant, a very versatile piece!

CONDITION
Very good antique condition. No chips or abrasions to Amethyst, one tiny mark seen under couple only. Padlock arm opens and closes very securely. Minor marks to gold only. Glass compartment at rear appears original, does not open. We believe originally there would have been a hair matting beneath the glass and its been removed over the years. Glass is secure, with no cracks or chips, minor marks seen under loupe magnification to bevelled edges only.
