Antique Mid-Victorian 21ct Yellow Gold And Cameo Pendant Circa 1860
Crafted exquisitely from 21ct gold (XRF tested) which is as bright and beautiful as the day it was created roughly 150 years ago.
Modelled in a large tear drop shape and centred with a finely carved pear shaped shell cameo of Eros (cupid) in full standing position with this bow. Saw toothed edging surrounds the cameo which is also ten claw set also.
The surround is incredibly worked.. in repoussé with conical cannetille spirals throughout, tiny ball detailing, and scalloped shell like motifs. To the top is the original spiral jump ring which will accommodate a fine chain.
We wonder if this piece perhaps started out as one of a pair of earrings… we will never definitively know.. and frankly it doesn’t matter, this piece is stunning in its own right.
