Antique Late Victorian/Early Edwardian 9ct Rose Gold Ball Motif Long Guard Chain

There’s something quietly addictive about a chain like this.

At 150 cm (almost five feet, as tall as me!) of warm 9ct rose gold, it’s long enough to play with: worn single and sweeping to the waist, doubled for elegant layers, or wrapped three or four times for that effortless bohemian knot at the throat.

However you wear it, the soft pinkish glow of the rose gold and the gentle heft (14.5 g) feel luxurious against the skin.

Every 10 cm or so, a tiny fluted gold ball appears — eleven of them in total — catching the light and breaking the rhythm of the hand-made Belcher links just enough to keep your eye moving.

The links themselves are textbook late-Victorian: four grooved, perfectly even, and still beautifully thick with no trace of wear or thinning after more than a century.

It closes with a later (but beautifully matched) bolt ring that snaps shut with a satisfying click and holds firm.

You’ll find yourself reaching for it constantly — with a pendant, over a high-neck blouse, or wear this piece simply on its own.

Some pieces you admire. This one will be admired by all.

CONDITION
Excellent antique condition.  This is a fine example, beautifully crafted.  There are no dents to any ball station, and no thinning to the interlocked belcher chains.  The bolt ring clasp may not be original? But functions perfectly, nice and tight.  No issues to note. Superb.
