Calling all our lovely perfume bottle collectors!  We have a lovely early example for you!

During the late 18th century to the end of the 19th century, when perfume became more affordable to the less affluent, samples were sold and sometimes given away by chemists and perfumers in these glass perfume bottles. The vial inside the bottle is thin and contained very little perfume much like the tiny sample bottles we are given today at stores!  These simple bottles garnered the name “Throwaways’ as they were the equivalent of our sample bottles today and not meant to be kept.

This lovely example is 10cm long by almost 2cm wide, hand blown, ribbed to the sided and ‘thumb print’ depressed to the upper most for ease when holding.
Originally there would have been a ground glass stopper in place (and wax paper and string to the top) however finding these in original condition is a rarity!

Richly hand decorated with gold gilding this exquisite Georgian bottle is a must for the collector.

CONDITION
Good Georgian condition. Gilding is in very good condition, present with only very light fading mostly around the top where the wax paper and string would have been.  Cork stopper would be a later addition.  No chip or nicks to glass.  Lovely!`
