Dating to circa 1800, this exquisite daisy cluster ring features wonderfully sparkling antique ‘black dot’ paste gemstones, beautifully preserved in remarkable condition for their age. With their gorgeous shimmer, delicate silver settings and charming floral design, examples as lovely and well-preserved as this are becoming increasingly difficult to find!

A truly enchanting Georgian treasure, dating to circa 1800, and a particularly beautiful example of early antique paste jewellery!
Over 200 years old, this exquisite piece showcases a delightful daisy flower cluster, set with an array of sparkling antique-cut ‘black dot’ paste (glass) gemstones, each carefully fashioned to imitate the beauty and brilliance of old-cut diamonds.
Each paste gemstone features a tiny ‘black dot’ painted beneath its open culet, a charming and highly sought-after characteristic of early paste jewellery, designed to recreate the appearance of diamonds of the period. The gemstones are nestled within traditional cut-down, foil-backed silver settings, characteristic of the Georgian era, with a gently domed, closed silver reverse.
The beautifully proportioned flower cluster measures a generous 1.2cm in diameter, yet sits wonderfully low against the finger, with a rise of just 4.9mm.
What makes this example especially lovely is the remarkable quality and preservation of its original paste gemstones. Displaying a magnificent shimmer, lively sparkle and beautiful clarity, the stones have survived in truly exceptional condition for their considerable age, with no visible chips or abrasions. Such beautifully preserved examples are becoming increasingly difficult to find, particularly with this wonderful degree of brilliance!
The 9ct yellow gold shank is a later addition, skilfully and sympathetically crafted by a jeweller clearly familiar with antique Georgian jewellery, allowing this exquisite little piece of history to enjoy a new life as a wearable ring.
Most likely beginning its life as a decorative paste button or similar adornment, this remarkable piece has been treasured and preserved for more than two centuries. A rare opportunity to acquire such a beautifully intact and wonderfully sparkling example of Georgian craftsmanship, brimming with historical charm, character and the unmistakable romance of jewellery from a bygone era.

Provenance & Story
This piece comes from a private Australian collection, having been passed down through three generations of the same family. The original owner acquired it during a Grand Tour of Europe in the late 19th century.
The brooch has been carefully preserved, retaining its original pin mechanism and showing the gentle patina that only comes with age and careful stewardship.
