This is a truly charming and rare find – a complete set of three antique lace pins, beautifully preserved in their original fitted box and dating to around 1900. Made by Edward Goudge & Co., a respected London jeweller of the late Victorian and Edwardian period with premises at Electra House, Moorgate, these delicate little treasures capture the elegance of their time.

Each pin is crafted in 9 carat gold and designed with its own unique character. One is set with a bright round faceted ruby(untested for origin), another with a sparkling round faceted sapphire (also untested), while the third features a finely detailed three-leaf motif centred with a tiny lustrous pearl. Together, they make a delightful trio – simple, refined, and full of period charm.  Each pin measures approximately 3cm.

What makes this set even more special is its original presentation box, lined in silk and velvet, still bearing the Edward Goudge name and Moorgate address. The pins appear to have been rarely, if ever, worn, remaining in excellent condition for well over a century.

It is exceptionally unusual to find not just one, but all three lace pins together with their original fitted case, making this a wonderful opportunity for collectors who appreciate rare and complete antique jewellery sets. Sweet, elegant, and steeped in history, these pins would make a treasured addition to any collection.

HISTORY OF EDWARD GOUDGE & CO.

Edward Goudge & Co. was a respected London jeweller active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with premises at Electra House, Moorgate in the City of London.
Listed in trade directories as jewellers and diamond merchants, the firm produced elegant pieces in 18ct gold and platinum, often set with old mine cut or old European cut diamonds.

Their designs reflected the transition from Edwardian delicacy to early Art Deco style, with navette and cluster rings, pierced platinum tops, millgraine edging, and low-rise settings being characteristic features.

Jewellery from the company is sometimes hallmarked with London assay office stamps and their maker’s mark, dating most often between 1900 and the 1930s.
Though relatively rare today, their pieces are valued for their fine craftsmanship, refined design, and historical connection to London’s jewellery trade.

THE HISTORY OF LACE PINS

Lace pins (sometimes called lace brooches or bar brooches) were small decorative pins designed to fasten or embellish delicate lace garments, shawls, fichus (neck scarves), or fine muslin fabrics. They became popular in the mid-19th century (Victorian era) and remained fashionable into the Edwardian and early Art Deco periods. Because lace was a luxury fabric, these pins were often made in gold and set with pearls, garnets, turquoise, or small diamonds.
