Antique Edwardian Australian 9ct Yellow Gold Antique-Cut Quartz ‘Australia’ Federation Boomerang Brooch

A wonderfully rare and unusual piece of collectible antique Australian jewellery dating to the turn of the century circa 1900.
Crafted from 9ct yellow gold which rosy gold hues and emblematic in style featuring a Boomerang emblazoned with ‘Australia’ and featuring a stunning and large old-cut clear Quartz weighing approximately 4.8ct in eight claw setting.
Quartz is beautiful.. especially when cut as this one is, Amethyst and Citrine (amongst others) are also members of the Quartz family, this gem is simply ‘clear’ and looks like a large old-cut Diamond! and scintillates due to its stunning faceting and depth with every movement.
A large and commanding piece which measures 4.5cm in length with its original C clasp and pin (silver, original and strong) to the verso, but could be quite easily converted by your jeweller to be worn as a pendant if desired.
Stamped with the makers initials - ‘DG’ which may be for David J Gray of Perth, sadly we cannot specifically attribute due to the lack of literature available on many Australian jewellers.
A must for the serious Australian jewellery collector given the rarity of the maker and most of all its beauty and workmanship!

CONDITION
Excellent antique condition. The antique-cut Quartz in beautifully faceted, no chips or abrasions, with eight substantial original claws in excellent condition. Original pin (silver), hinge and C clasp with no repairs or alterations. Stunning.
