Antique Australian Edwardian Era 15ct Yellow Gold Amethyst And Diamond Pendant
It’s rare, beautifully made, full of character, and ready to become a treasured heirloom for the next generation. Truly something special!
Please note, box, chain and hook bale are for display only unless otherwise stated.
Oh, this one really takes our breath away!
This extraordinary Antique Australian Edwardian pendant, crafted right here in Australia in the early 1900s, is a true showstopper.
At its heart sits a magnificent Amethyst — a large, deeply saturated oval-cut beauty weighing approximately 19.2 carats. The colour is just incredible: rich, velvety purple that seems to glow from within, drawing you in every time the light hits it
What makes this piece even more special is its solid, substantial construction. The Amethyst is securely held in its original multi-claw setting within a deep, closed-back 15ct yellow gold mount that feels wonderfully substantial in the hand. The entire pendant weighs an impressive 14.6 grams and measures 3.2 cm by 1.8 cm by 1.4 cm deep — it has real presence, yet it wears beautifully.
The elegant bail is a standout too: a generous oval solid fixed loop, beautifully accented with four fine-quality round brilliant-cut diamonds that add the loveliest subtle sparkle.
Turn it over and you’ll find crisp hallmarks: “15ct” along with the maker’s mark “JMD”. We believe this belongs to J. M. Dempster, a respected Sydney jeweller active between 1901 and 1940 — a lovely piece of Australian jewellery history.
In immaculate condition with no damage or wear to speak of, this is a commanding yet wearable piece that feels every bit as special as it looks.

Condition
Excellent antique condition. This is a very substantial and well made piece. The Amethyst is stunning, under loupe magnification there are one or two minuscule marks, we are noting this for accuracy only. All the claws are very strong and solid and holding the Amethyst perfectly. The rear is closed back in very solid gold and bears the hallmarks. The top bale is solid, thick and strong. The diamonds are free from chips or abrasions, all well set and secure. A superb piece!Explore Our Collection
