Crafted by one of our renowned early jewellery firms Willis and Son in the first decades of the 20th century.

Large and impressive in size at 5.1cm x 4.1cm and crafted from the most beautiful hue of rosy 9ct Rose gold.

Opening to reveal two large oval compartments, one of which retains its original rim and plastic pane.

Monogrammed to the front panel with the initials ’TMN’ (we believe) finely hand inscribed in olde script, and to the verso “With Best Wishes from the V.A.D. Detachment 1919”.

The ‘V.A.D. stands for the Voluntary Aid Detachment. (See below).
We can only imagine the story behind this poignant piece given only one year after WW1 ended….

Hallmarked to the rear panel are Willis and Sons iconic Unicorn hallmark in tiny and discreet marks.

This large locket looks so very impressive around the neck and its original bale can accommodate a reasonable sized chain.

CONDITION
Very very good antique condition.  Locket closes with a snap and hinges is very sound.  Bale is original.  Very very slight impressions ( not dents ) seen in some lights as this locket is very highly polished these are very unnoticeable and insignificant for a piece this age. Lovely early locket.
