Antique Australian 18ct Yellow Gold Diamond Five Stone Half Hoop By - H. Bright - Circa 1925
Superb antique Australian ring by one of our least know jewellers (at least in the written literature) dating to around 1925 or thereabouts.
Crafted as a five stone half hoop in 18ct yellow gold and claw set with five graduated early brilliant cut diamonds.
Interestingly the diamonds are claw set in 18ct yellow gold (as compared to platinum or white gold) and this technique gives the diamonds, and the ring, a subtle warm glow which is simply stunning.
Elegant, simple and refined this stunning piece of early Australian history is a delight to wear and sits beautifully with perhaps a wedding ring or any of your favourite ‘go to’ stacking rings or perhaps an alternative engagement or anniversary ring!
HISTORY OF H.BRIGHT
Mr H. Bright, watch maker and jeweller of 192 Elgin Street Carlton Victoria.
Little exists in the written literature of Mr. H Bright however we do know from excerpts extracted from Australian newspapers he was trading at Elgin Street as early as 1895 (and perhaps earlier).
In June 1914 he was elected Honourable Secretary of the Jewellers Association of Victoria and In January 1920 was the president to the Retail Jewellers Association of Victoria.
Poor Mr Brights store was robbed in September 1930 of a tray of rings to the value of 600 pounds!
What happened to Mr. Bright after this date is lost to us, however we will continue to search for more interesting history on this lesser known jeweller.

Very good to excellent antique condition. No chips to diamonds. All claws substantial and solid. No thinning to shank. H. Bright hallmarks very very slightly faded to end, still legible. Gorgeous ring.
