Antique Australian 15ct Rose Gold Turquoise, Garnet, Seed Pearl ‘Fly’ Brooch Circa 1900
Colour us entomologically challenged but we are not at all sure what type of insect this is!
What we do know however that it is a superb piece of antique Australian jewellery in the form of (some type) of insect, crafted from 15ct rose gold and dates to around the turn of the last century circa 1900.
Designed as a long - 5.3cm - double bar brooch with ball ends, and to the centre this magnificent large insect with outstretched wings set with natural half seed Pearls, body comprising of a stunning multi-claw set pear shaped Turquoise cabochon, and thorax set with a luscious red faceted garnet.
Original pin (sterling silver) and C claps (15ct gold) keep this striking piece of antique Australian jewellery secure when worn. Hidden discretely under the pin hinge we find the early Australian stamps for 15ct gold and the ‘hanging fleece’ Manufacturing Jewellers Association of Victoria guarantee mark used for 15ct gold.
In pristine condition, this fine piece of Australiana perfect for the serious collector or any one who adores figural insect jewellery!
