This beautiful antique 9-carat rose gold “Heart and Ivy” patterned ring by Kinsey Brothers & Patrick of Birmingham is a truly romantic piece of early 20th-century craftsmanship.

Dated 1917, it carries all four clear UK hallmarks for 9ct gold, Birmingham assay, the maker’s mark KBSP, and the date letter ’S’—a wonderful testament to its authenticity and history.

Measuring a generous 8.48 mm in width, this ring makes a striking statement on the hand. The entire circumference is adorned with a crisp, deeply engraved pattern of romantic Hearts intertwined with Ivy leaves, the detail beautifully preserved with no fading or wear to the design.

In the sentimental language of the early 1900s, Hearts symbolised love and devotion, while Ivy represented fidelity, eternity, and steadfast affection—its evergreen nature a poetic emblem of love that endures through all seasons. Together, these motifs made the “Heart and Ivy” design a popular choice for romantic gifts and wedding bands during the Edwardian and early Art Deco periods.

The ring’s softly polished rose gold glows with a gentle warmth that complements the intricate pattern, giving it both a timeless charm and a touch of individuality. It’s a piece that feels deeply personal—a wearable love token from over a century ago, beautifully preserved and unlike anything you’ll find on modern fingers.

Elegant, symbolic, and rich with history, this 1917 Heart and Ivy ring is a perfect choice for anyone who treasures antique craftsmanship and the enduring beauty of romantic symbolism.
