Possibly one of the most beautiful, symbolic and enchanting rings we’ve had the pleasure of offering, this Georgian - early Victorian ring is veritably oozing sentimentality.

Dating to around 1820-1850, crafted from 18ct yellow gold, and designed as a double Ouroboros serpent ring centred with a Pearl and Ruby daisy cluster.

The ouroboros, a serpent eating its own tail, was used to represent the cyclical nature of life and death, and this fine example bears not one, but two serpents which are intertwined and encircle the entire ring forming the shank also.  Fine scale like detailing is seen to all aspects of the serpents including the double fine shank.

The serpents encircle the Pearl and Ruby ‘forget-me-not’ cluster, the Pearls representing ‘tears’ and the Ruby ‘love’… so many evocative sentimental motifs all combine to form this rare and exciting ring.
To the rear a locket compartment is seen also, however the glass window is sadly lost to time.

A must for the serious collector of fine early jewellery, this ring presents in excellent condition with no additions, repairs, or alterations and an extraordinarily - for its age - large size ‘Q’.
