Antique Australian 9ct Rose Gold Double Albert Watch Chain - 42cm - 39 grams - Circa 1900-1915
A fabulous, and heavy 39 gram antique double Albert watch chain crafted in *Australia around the turn of the century or just in to the first decade of the 20th century.
(*We are almost certain this one is Australian given the style of 9ct stamps, acquisition, and style of 9ct stamps).
Manufactured from 9ct rose gold in ever so slightly graduated curb link style with a sliding T-bar fob and associated chain which would have held a further ornate fob or medallion shield if desired. This extra piece of chain is just waiting for its new owned to add his or her personal favourite pendant, or not, as it looks wonderful just the way it is.
At some stage in its history an approximately 6cm of curb-link has been added, professionally, to lengthen this one.. the addition is almost imperceptible and expertly done.
The close style curb links are solid and show no wear in between links, the dog clips are large and work perfectly retaining their tight springiness.
Measuring a fantastic length end to end of 42cm this one tends to sit just below the collar bones and of course the sliding T-bar drops another 3cm below this.
Classic, elegant and always in style this substantial piece of antique jewellery is a must for the serious jewellery connoisseur.
