An outstanding piece of highly symbolic Victorian jewellery dating to the Mid-Victorian era circa 1850.

Crafted from 15ct yellow gold and designed as a poignant locket with stunningly worked cobalt blue guilloché enamel to the front, four detailed gold ‘trefoil’ motifs wrapping their way around from the rear section, and most importantly, two Old mine-cut and rose-cut diamond ‘Forget-Me-Not’ flowers symbolising enduring love and remembrance, and often given as tokens of affection as a promise to always remember loved ones.

The diamonds are of excellent quality, chunky high cut diamonds with beautiful facets, bright white and very sparkly, and as per the era set in silver in both bead claw settings and early cut-down settings.

To the verso, which is 15ct yellow gold and unadorned, we find the original round glass paned locket compartment, with its original egg-shell bale blue fabric beneath.  In exceptional condition, the glass pane has no scratches or damage, very clear and crisp.

The equally stunning top bale is set with three Old Mine-cut diamonds and is large enough to accommodate a good sized chain, dog clips or bolt ring, or perhaps a lush velvet ribbon.

Presenting in exceptional condition, the diamonds are magical, there is absolutely no wear or dulling to the vibrant enamel, the locket to the rear is outstanding.. this incredible piece, which is around 170+ years in age, has withstood the test of time and will continue to do so for generations to come.
