Antique Edwardian 9ct Gold Butterfly Bar Brooch Circa 1910
Please note, boxes are for display only unless otherwise stated.
Calling all butterfly collectors or anyone who appreciates naturalistic antique jewellery, this stunning Butterfly brooch is one of the prettiest examples we’ve seen.
Almost certainly Australian in manufacture given the acquisition and provenance, this beauty is crafted from 9ct gold which has been ‘bloomed’ to give a rich and buttery higher carat shimmer we all desire in antique jewellery of this era.
A large example measuring over 5cm in length with the most beautiful detailed central Butterfly set with an array of gems used and favoured during the Edwardian era - Garnet topped doublets, a shimmering white paste/glass and seed Pearls.
Retaining its original 9ct gold safety chain and pin ( these can be easily removed if undesired ), and to the verso its original C clasp and pin which keeps this strikingly pretty brooch secure when worn.

Very good to excellent antique condition. All Pearls and gems original, well sent and secure. A shallow sliver chip to centre paste/glass stone, incredibly hard to see with naked eye, noting for accuracy. All other stones unabridged. No re-glues to Pearls. Original pin and C Clasp, no repairs. Original safety chain, also 9ct gold. Pin is gold filled or similar (for strength, common in this era). No repairs or damage. A lovely early piece.
