Dating to the Victorian era this romantically styled Starburst brooch has won our hearts with her romantic charm!
Starburst designed jewellery gained prominence during the Late Victorian or Aesthetic Period (1885-1901), a time when society began to shift away from the sombreness of the earlier Grande Period. The Starburst motif was heavily influenced by the Romantic movement in the Victorian period, which celebrated nature, emotion, and imagination, and duly paid homage to the Heavenly bodies and very much the desire for soulful purpose and connectedness.
This example is crafted from 18ct yellow gold (backed in a pinchbeck plate or similar) and features two domes each adorned with a vibrant Royal blue enamel eight rayed Starburst set with a half Pearl to the center.
Original pin and C clasp to the verso ensure this one is secure, wear her vertical, horizontal or diagonal on your favourite shirt, scarf or even hat!
In lovely condition this timeless piece is a must have for the Victorian Star jewellery collector.

CONDITION
Very very good antique condition. Pearls original and secure. Blue enamel is lovely, no losses or ‘touch up’s. No dents or dings. Original C clasp and pin. No repairs or damage. Back ‘plate’ is testing as non gold, although it certainly has the appearance of gold (we have everything tested…), this is not untypical of the era. No issues to note. A lovely piece!
