Vintage Australian Silver And Guilloche Enamel ‘Bluebird Of Happiness’ Brooch Circa 1960-1970’s
Dating to the 1960’s to 70’s this all original and utterly charming brooch features the ‘Bluebird of Happiness’ in guilloche blue enamel and crafted from Silver.
The origins of these symbolic Bluebirds dates back to around the late Victorian era - see link below for information - and were given as love tokens to sweet hearts and sometimes worn as ’something blue’ on a wedding day.
Measuring a wonderful 3.5cm in length, beautifully enamelled in still bright and iridescent shades of blue guilloche enamel with delicate yellow highlights to his breast and darker blue to wind and tail tips.
Around the 1950’s children were sometimes given their first precious piece of jewellery featuring a bluebird ( I was one!, and sadly, promptly lost it…)

Very good to excellent vintage condition. Guilloche enamel is just lovely, bright and shimmery with no losses. Pin and C clasp original, no repairs. Pin is in gold fill or similar. No issues to note.
