Vintage Australian 9ct Yellow Gold Wide Wedding Band/Ring by Rodd Circa 1950s–60s
history of G.E RODD
George Rodd established his workshop in 1919 and began making trophies and medallions soon expanding into cutlery and jewellery.
By the 1930's Rodd was the leading manufacturer of jewellery in Australia. He used the trade name Apex until the firm became a limited company in 1948 when the name changed to Rodd.
Please note, boxes are for display unless otherwise stated.
Crafted in solid 9ct yellow gold, this classic mid-century band has a beautifully simple, timeless profile, with its wider proportions giving it a lovely presence on the finger while remaining wonderfully comfortable and easy to wear. The softly polished yellow gold has developed an attractive warmth with age, lending the ring that lovely character we look for in a genuine vintage piece.
A wonderfully versatile ring, it looks equally lovely worn alone or paired alongside a variety of engagement, eternity or dress rings. Its simple profile also makes it an ideal keeper ring, or a lovely choice as a vintage wedding or replacement wedding band.
The ring weighs approximately 2.71 grams and is stamped ‘9t Rodd’, together with ‘179’, which is possibly an original stock or pattern number.
Currently a generous Australian size V, measuring approximately 20.4mm in internal diameter (approximately US 10¾). Due to its straightforward band design, it could potentially be sized down approximately four to five sizes by any competent jeweller.
A lovely and highly versatile ring for the collector or for anyone looking for an every day ring!
