Sadly not all jewellery comes with a provenance or history so one can only sometimes speculate to particular pieces origins.

These quite lovely Arts & Crafts Sterling silver Moonstone earrings are almost certainly Australian in manufacture (we know that much) and would date to the Arts & Crafts era or thereabouts.

**The history of Australian jewellery of this era is long and varied however in short one of our well known craftswoman was Rhoda Wager 1917-1946.

Her jewellery was almost always signed and this piece is not, however in in 1928 her niece - Dorothy Wager - joined Rhoda to be trained in jewellery making, and joined the Society of Arts and Crafts in 1931 as a student member.

At the 1932 and 1933 Exhibitions of the Society her work was shown as designed by Rhoda Wager and bade by Dorothy.  Exhibiting some 37 pieces of jewellery in 1938 in her own right and she then set up her studio at 147 King Street Sunday in 1939 .
Unlike her aunt Rhoda Wager her pieces were never signed**

Hand crafted in the Arts & Crafts manner these charming earrings bear no signature or hallmark to attest to their manufacturer.

Modelled in Sterling Silver and each centred with a Moonstone with fine micro millgrain edging to a surround of grape leaves and vines to post fitting for pierced ears to the verso.

Please note the original butterfly backs (not original to the earrings..) we decided to remove as they are not a match and quite loose.  We have replaced them with 9ct yellow gold tight fitting butterfly backs for secure wearing.

Available also is the matching necklace.
