Vintage Art Deco / Retro Era 18ct Yellow Gold And Platinum ‘REGARD’ Ring
A cut above the rest this stunning REGARD ring not only dates to the Art Deco era, but unlike most 9ct examples, this beauty is crafted from 18ct yellow gold and Platinum and stamped crisply as such.
“Acrostic rings were developed in France in the early 19th century by the jewellery company Mellerio dits Meller, and later became popular in England. They were given and worn during the Georgian and Victorian eras. Acrostic rings were given as romantic gifts, and their messages were sentimental. Alternatively, they would be used to form a secret message. So me acrostic rings were used as engagement rings.
Acrostic rings have been created and given in later eras, including in the 20th and 21st centuries”.
This fine example features the Acrostic message REGARD spelled out in gemstones - Ruby, Emerald, Garnet, Amethyst, Ruby and last but not least Diamond.
Each gemstone is set in individual square settings, bead claw set, and in Platinum.
A slightly stepped down configuration typical of the Art Deco era, to a low rise openwork under gallery, to tapering shoulders and a half round shank.
