Our gorgeous Art Deco garnet ring is styled in the popular Belcher or Tulip set (as often referred) design, crafted in 9ct yellow gold, and is low rise for ease of wear which a thick and oh so comfortable shank making this ring a great every day piece.
The deep luscious red Pyrope garnet measures 9.3mm x 7.0mm or an estimated 2.10ct (measured in setting), eye catching and quite mesmerising.
Pyrope garnet is the best known of the red garnets. It its known for its deep red hue and fiery brilliance that can often resemble that of ruby or pomegranate seeds. Like all garnet, pyrope is rarely ever pure; most contain traces of almandine, which is another popular red garnet.
Presenting in good to excellent antique condition, the garnet is free from chips and is set securely by ten strong and secure claws. Solid and thick shoulders taper from the center set garnet measuring 1.2cm at the widest point.
Crisply and fully hallmarked for Chester, 9ct and date stamp ‘k’ for 1935, Chester assay pieces are increasingly harder to come by considering the assay office closed in 1962. It is not uncommon for Chester collectors to snap these pieces up quickly!
