Vintage 9ct Yellow Gold Garnet Cluster Ring — Birmingham, Circa 1979
Richly Red & Romantic!
Bold enough to make an impact while remaining wonderfully wearable, this wonderfully rich and beautifully proportioned vintage 9ct yellow gold garnet cluster ring, dates to 1979 and fully UK hallmarked for Birmingham. A pleasing example of late-1970s jewellery design — rich in colour, beautifully balanced!

Taking centre stage is a substantial faceted oval Almandine garnet measuring approximately 12.0 x 9.7 mm, displaying a gorgeous deep wine-red to burgundy hue. As the stone catches the light, brighter flashes of crimson, cherry and rich ruby-red emerge beautifully from within. Its colour and appearance are very consistent with almandine garnet, a variety particularly admired for its deep, saturated red tones.
Encircling the centre stone are fourteen round-cut garnets, each measuring approximately 2.8 mm, creating a wonderfully full and balanced halo. The centre garnet is estimated at approximately 4.3cts, with the surrounding garnets contributing approximately 1.3 cts combined, giving the ring an estimated total garnet weight of around 5.6cts.
Each garnet is individually claw-set within the 9ct yellow gold setting, while the beautifully open-backed gallery allows light to enter beneath the stones and enhances those wonderfully rich red tones. The setting has a lovely sculptural quality when viewed from the side, tapering elegantly into the shoulders and sitting particularly beautifully on the finger.

Condition
The ring presents in lovely vintage condition. One of the outer garnets displays a very shallow surface indentation, very hard to see with the naked eye and only readily seen under 10x magnification, noted for accuracy only and does not detract from the overall beauty or presentation of the ring.
