Vintage 9ct Rose Gold Opal Triplet Ring Circa 1950-70
Large and impressive this substantially crafted vintage ring is not only stunning in appearance but is super smooth and incredibly comfortable on the finger.
Crafted from 9ct soft hued rose gold and centred with an oval Opal Triplet which displays a vibrant play of colour of blues, greens and hints of yellow.
‘Triplets are cheaper than solid Opals and doublets as they do contain less Opal - a thin sliver - however because the top of the stone is made from either a glass, quartz or plastic type capping they are a lot more resistant to impact than solid or doublet stones!’
Doublet or triplet opals (thin layers of opal glued to other gemstone layers) should never be soaked in soapy water. This might dissolve the glue holding the layers together. Clean opal doublets and triplets with a mesh rag dipped in warm, soapy water.
Measuring a pleasing 10mm x 8mm the Opal triplet is bezel set, closed backed, to a wide domed setting, thick rounded shoulders and a super comfortable shank.

Very good vintage condition. Minor marks to gold only. Substantial ring with no thinning to shank. Opal triplet has only minor marks, vibrant and pretty. Evidence or an early resize, stable and fine, seen under loupe only.
