Stunningly large oval natural Boulder Opal from Queensland Australia. Traditionally cut ‘en cabochon’ with a high dome to show the magnificent colour play, exhibiting a range of colours, blue, green, yellow, orange and very fiery deep reds.
Photos and videos do not show this colour play at its best.. to see this beauty under sunlight is magical.
Appearing like the earths molten crust, full of veins of rolling vibrancy, this magical stone looks different on every viewing.
Modelled in 9ct gold of the soft hue neither true rose not yellow but somewhere in between, this very substantial setting holds the Opal with six double split claws to a wonderfully constructed raised scalloped gallery to flat inverse tapered shoulders to a firm and slim shank.
Dating to around 1940-50, constructed in Australia.
The Opal is free from abrasions and chips and in excellent condition.
The handcrafted setting is also in excellent condition.
To wear this enchanting piece of magic is a pleasure.
