A superb ring, of Portuguese manufacture, and given the series of hallmarks was manufactured pre 1985.  We would date this one to around 1960-1980.

Crafted from the standard gold content in Portugal of 19.2ct (higher than our typical 9ct and 18ct gold), and designed as a U shaped ring (not round) which we can confirm is incredibly comfortable to wear - fingers are NOT perfectly rounded are quite flat on top!

Centred with an incredible bright emerald-cut natural Emerald, four claw set, and flanked by a series of three bright white baguette-cut diamonds flush set to each side.

Channelling a structural architectural Art Deco vibe with its perfect symmetry an d placement of gemstones, this low rise ring is quality through and through.

“The 800 Gold stamp indicates a gold item has a fineness of 80% gold or 800 grams of gold per 1000 grams of weight. It can be described as 19.2-carat Gold. The stamp originates from one of the three Portuguese Assay Offices—Porto, Lisbon and Gondomar.

The 800 Gold stamp appears on many antique items of Gold jewellery from 1938 onwards, recorded in the Portuguese Assay Office historic hallmark information”.

Could be resized approximately 2-3, down 2-3 with any competent jeweller. 

CONDITION
Very good to excellent vintage condition.  Emerald is lovely, no chips or abrasions, natural Emerald inclusions seen, claws are original, secure and strong.   Diamonds are bright and lively, well set and secure with no chips or abrasions.  A substantial ring - almost 7 grams - very well made, with no shining to shank.  Hallmarks are on the outside of shank, and clear.  Minor marks to gold only, no other issues to note.
