Victorian/Early Edwardian “Rolled Gold” Guard Chain Circa 1900

Beautifully modelled guard / muff / long chain dating to the late Victorian - early Edwardian era.

Worn originally by women throughout the early 19th to early 20th century typically to suspend a muff (hand warmer/gloves) but these days these wonderful and versatile chains can be styled in so many ways and with any of your favourite pendants safely clipped by the original dog-clip.

This example is constructed of ‘rolled gold’ with warm rosy gold hue, with faceted fancy belcher links interspersed with faceted ‘balls’ and fancy long links and features a versatile dog-clip fastener.

Measuring a lovely 140 cm in length which can be looped around the neck twice and the highly useful dog-clip can attach all your favourite pendants, lockets etc.
Weighing a comfortable to wear 20.33 grams.

CONDITION
Very very good antique condition.  No repairs of apparent wear between links.  Lovely rosy gold hue in colour. Dog-clip functions perfectly, nice and tight.  Very pretty chain.
